Michal Baratz from Tel Aviv, Israel
Michal Baratz: 'I grew up travelling around the world. As a child I was sure I would become a painter, but growing up I discovered design and got caught. Two years ago I graduated with honours from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem where I studied Communication Arts. I also studied one year of Fashion Design at the Shenkar Academy. In the last two years I have mostly designed for television, making promos, indents and logos for various TV channels. Currently I am a freelance artist, living and working in Tel Aviv, dreaming about directing music videos and designing in New York, London and anywhere in Italy! My design is inspired mostly by music. I'm always looking for the images behind sounds, rendering them into shapes and creating new worlds'.
Jmac from Portsmouth, United Kingdom
Says Jmac: 'I am a recent illustration graduate from the mean streets of Portsmouth. After graduating and enjoying my last summer holiday, I'm now embarking on a freelance career in just about anything that comes my way which keeps me away from supermarket, factory and odd temping agency jobs like working for eccentric stamp collectors or counting cars on roundabouts! So far I'm working on a variety of projects - cd sleeves, belts, t-shirts, badges, cool online magazines and magazine editorials. The banners were part of a continuous piece about the journey from rural to urban and back. This was inspired by too many train trips to London'.
Couscous Kid from Bath, United Kingdom
Couscous Kid is the work of Mathew Star Thomas. Mathew’s illustrations lie somewhere between the cutting edge of the new breed in contemporary illustration and the tempting nipple of naive. Impossible to pigeon-hole, Couscous Kid’s dream-like and innocent style takes us to a timeless place where fantasy and fairytale doodles combine with intrigue, mystery and sex. At first glance all is as it seems with hints of sixties abandon, but closer inspection reveals a twenty-first century humour and physical freedom hidden among the sublime and ridiculous forms and characters.

After all, you are who you're with. The sum of the people who surround you is the essence of your being. Remember how you felt when your grandma died or when your girlfriend left you? Death oozes out of every pore, every chimney, every tree hole when you're alone. So, sometimes all I want to say is - take care of each other!'
